Henry and Oscar

First, let me just say that, no, we did not get another family pet:) Last night was Henry's turn to bring home the class pet. This little guy that Henry is snuggling with is Oscar. Oscar is the class pet. Each student gets a turn in taking him home overnight. Oscar comes home in his own special bag with a journal to keep track of his many adventures. The kids are instructed to write about what they do with Oscar and their families for the night. You can include photos or drawings and a short little story telling what Oscar experienced with the family. And then he goes back to school the next day and patiently waits for his next adventure with the next student. During class time, Ms. Alana(Henry's teacher,) has share time and reads Oscars latest journal entry to the class.

Henry was thrilled that he was chosen to bring home Oscar last night. He came running threw the front door trying to juggle opening his backpack to show me. He was such a big boy and pulled out Oscar with care and then pulled the journal out. And then said, "Mommy, we have to write in Oscar's journal and take a picture tonight so that I can show my class tomorrow at school." So we took a few pictures and this is the one that went in the journal along with the entry I helped him write.

Here's Henry's entry-this is from Oscar's perspective:)
Today I went home with Henry and his twin sister Emma. After a short car ride to the house we had a yummy snack and some juice. Henry took me on a tour of the house and I got to meet the rest of his family. Henry lives at his house with his daddy, his mommy, his twin sister Emma, a cat named Boots, a dog named Chance, and three lizards-Buddy, B.G., and Ella. We talked about what we did today at school and what Henry likes the best about Treetops(school). Henry said his favorite thing about school was being able to build with Legos with all of his new friends. He really likes to build things. And has built his own Lego city. We played with his Legos, watched a Scooby Doo video, ate dinner, red bedtime stories, said bedtime prayers, and got tucked in bed by his daddy and mommy. We had a lot of fun and I am looking forward to my next adventure and to going back to school. Oscar

Henry's looking forward to hopefully having another turn with Oscar. He's doing really well and is enjoying school. I'm proud of our boy, he's been a trooper and has settled in nicely.
