1st Grade Orientation

Tuesday night the four of us went to the 1st Grade Orientation/Meet the Teacher Night.  It was loud and seemed to be a quick evening.  We were in and out of there in under an hour.  This included turning in school supplies, meeting the teachers, turning in paperwork, quickly going over the rules and routines, and then a wrap up in the large room with EVERYONE which included 1st-3rd grade kids, parents, some siblings, and teachers.  It was crazy and a bit different from the previous two years.

Obviously, it is going to be a different experience, but wow, what a lot to take in.  The kids are in separate classes again this year and will continue to be as long as class size allows it.  But it puts a damper on the whole meet the teacher/volunteer/try to be there for both kids at school activities type thing.  Well, in my opinion it does.  Luckily, most of those activities the classes do together or so I have been told.  We shall see.

Homework should be fun.  I hope.  We will stick to our tried and true routine.  I'll pack an after school snack in their back packs so they can munch on the drive home and then maybe have something more if needed once they get home.  And then it will be time for homework.  From  what I have learned, homework should be done in about an hour.  Let's all just remember that we have two little learners and it might take a bit more time than that.

It's going to be a year full of lots of learning and growing and frustrations, but it will be a good year:)
