Well Child Check/ Flu Shot

It's that time of year again, runny noses, sneezing, coughing, and all the rest of the really gross yucky stuff.  It's the beginning of flu season and we took the kids in today after school for their yearly well child visit and flu shots.  We've been lucky this year and haven'()knock on wood) been sick like we were last year.  Sure we've been dealing with the changing of the season allergy attacks and yes, they have been pretty rough.  Henry has had a raspy voice, a runny nose, and coughing fits for the past few days and Emma was congested and just not feeling good.  They were both fine this morning as they headed off to school.  And they both seemed fine when we headed in for our appointment with Dr. K.  Both kids are on track with growth charts and weight gain and in developmental skills.  But once the nurse A took their temps, we found out differently.  Henry was fine, but Emma was running a low grade fever.  No fever=flu shot.  Fever=no flu shot and reschedule.  So Henry was a brave little man and took his shot like a champ.  He didn't even flinch and then made the comment, "that was it?!"  Emma will return Monday afternoon after school with Daddy and get her shot as long as she doesn't have an elevated temp.  It looks like she picked up a virus which we are almost certain that Henry plowed threw over the last week.  We are all hoping that our war with all of the bugs last year have really help build up H and E's immunity and that we may not have to deal with so much sickness this year.

If you have a kiddo, I highly recommend and encourage you to not only make sure that their vaccinations are up to date, but also make sure that they get a flu shot every year.
