"Official" Homework

The kids have now started "official" homework.  They both came home Tuesday with their blue homework folders and instructions from each teacher.  We've already been working on homework that I had here at home.  We have worksheets and other activities from over the Summer that I've been doing with them to help them retain the information they learned last year.  Emma has already had her first Benchmark testing done this year and Mrs. A said that she was very pleased with what Miss Em retained over the Summer.  I think Henry has already been tested, but he hasn't said much about it and I haven't heard from Mrs. L.  We are hoping that since he will be able to see better with the help of his new reading glasses that Henry will show some more improvement.  Jason and I both think he is bored and he has even stated that, but he is stubborn and won't show what he knows at school with his teacher.  He does know his letters and most of the sounds, but he isn't very reliable when it comes to sharing that when he is asked by his teacher.  We worked really hard last year with both of them on homework and other learning activities and will do the same again this year.  I've already told them that we will be working really really hard this year on learning and mastering everything they need to so that they can advance to first grade next year.  They both seem to be on board with the current plan.  Keep your fingers crossed.
