Both sides of the family have been told and a few close friends. And now of course, all of you here on the blog. We've talked with the kids and they seem to be getting use to the idea. They are both a little excited and kind of sad. They will stay at the same school and we will be a lot closer to school and work for Daddy. And they will each have their own room. I sat down again with them yesterday and this was part of our conversation,
Emma-"Mommy, my tummy hurts."
Me-"Why does your tummy hurt, sweetie?"
Emma-"I'm sad, I like our house and our room. "
Me-"I'm sorry, sweetie. I know it's hard, but it will be okay and we will all be together. We'll just be in a "little" house."
Emma-"Ok, Momma. I feel a little better."
Meanwhile, Henry was listening and sitting with us. And this is what he told me.
Henry-"Mommy, my heart hurts."
Me-"I know buddy, my heart hurts a little bit too. I know that you and Sissy really love our house, but Daddy and I think that this is what we need to do."
Henry-"Can we bring our paintings on the walls?"
Me-"No we can't, but I promise that I will take pictures of all of our paintings in your room so that you can look at them whenever you want."
Henry-"Ok. Do we have to leave all of our stuff here?"
Me-"No bub, we're going to take some of our stuff, donate or share some of our stuff with others that need it, and store the rest for when we move back into a house."
Henry-"Can we pick what we take?"
Me-"Yes, we can!"
Henry-"Okay Momma, I'm going to go pick what I want to share first!"
I managed those two conversations with a big lump in my throat and a tear escaped without them noticing. It broke my heart to hear them say what they said above.
The plan is to keep as much of our regular daily routine as possible. Their jobs are to get up each school day, get dressed, eat breakfast, and be ready in time to leave for school. And then finish up the afternoon routine with snack, homework, and whatever other activities/projects that are needed for school. We told them that we(Mommy and Daddy) would take care of the rest.
So for the next few weeks, my posts may be sporadic. I have a lot of packing and sorting to do. I'll try to keep you posted. And we'll be back on track before ya know it! Positive thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
