Myelogram/CT Scan/ Results

I had a Myelogram/ and CT Scan done on the 29th of July to help determine what was still causing the pain in my neck. I won't go into specifics; I'll just say I'd rather not have to repeat that again. It was a long couple of days that weren't all that comfortable or fun. The team at Spine Team-docs and physical therapist met this past Monday and discussed my case and looked at my scans. I had and went in for my followup on Wednesday. The good news is I am not having surgery on my neck. The bad news is we still don't know what is causing the pain. The disc herniation has gone down, the spinal column looks good, and the nerves are not being compressed. So Dr. Bartolemei(my neurosurgeon) has referred me to another doctor. This doctor specializes in spinal cord stimulation. I will be setting up an appointment with him to have an evaluation done to see if a device will be placed on my spine that reads what kind of communication or lack of communication is going on between the spine and my brain. At least I think that's what it does. I haven't had time to do more research, but will and will post to give everyone a better explanation. So....answers, but no answers. I'm becoming more and more frustrated as time passes and we still have no answers. Maybe it's all been in my head a great big figment of my imagination...I just know that I want the pain gone. I'll post on more happy things this weekend.

Pain in the Neck...

Here is a brief update in what is to come for me(mommy) in the near future in regards to my back and neck problems. This upcoming Tuesday, the 29th, I will go in and have a Myelogram and CT scan done. From the scans taken and from the information in my medical chart; the doctors and my physical therapist will meet and determine if I am eligible for surgery. I will be knocked out, scanned, and then after some time in recovery, be sent home to stay on my back for 18-24hrs. Failure on my part to do this(with the exception of using the bathroom) could result in two major things--a very severe headache-worse than any migraine I've ever had or I'll have seizures. Hmmmmm, I think I'll be good and follow all the instructions given to me and veg out on the couch. The entire procedure will take roughly four hours. Jason will be there through the whole thing. The kids will be over with my parents and Aunt Suza. We are really thankful and grateful to have family close that can and do help us out so much. Anyway, I'll post at least one more time before then and then later once we have the results and have talked with the doctor(s) I'll post then about this. And of course I'll post about the two most important people to us-Mr. H and Miss E.
