6th Grade!!! 2017-2018

First day of 6th grade!  They were both excited this morning and ready to head back to school.  We had no issues getting everyone up and moving this morning.  They were happy to see friends that we didn't get to see over the Summer and happy to go hug on teachers that they missed over the Summer.  Today was pretty easy.  They went over classroom procedures and got to know their classmates.  The teachers opted to have the kids watch a live stream of the eclipse today instead of going out to watch with glasses.  Tomorrow will be a few more procedures and some classwork will begin.

Henry, " Mom, it was a regular day of school.  I'm glad to be back with my friends and teachers. I'm tired.  Can you stop asking me so many questions about my day? It was good.  That's it!"

Emma, "Momma, I had a good day.  It was quiet in class and I hope it stays that way.  I'm really happy to see my friends and teachers. I'm tired.  I'm going to sleep in more tomorrow."

They went into school this morning with smiles and came home with smiles.  It's been a successful first day of 6th grade. I'm happy that we get to continue this journey at our little charter school.  And I am so happy that they were so joyful about a new school year.  They are ready to learn and ready for new adventures!

5th Grade!!! 2016-2017 School Year

What?!  How can this be?!  5th Graders already?!  Time is flying and these two are growing up too fast.  We are so proud of them for taking on their new responsibilities this year.  We had a great morning!  The kids got up on time, packed their own lunches, and did their morning chores.  They were both ready before it was time to leave for our walk to school.  

Treetops 5th and 6th graders are trying something new this year.  The kids aren't using backpacks.  So all they have to take each day is their pencil case, lunch box, and water bottle.  And the teachers are trying to ensure that the kids won't have homework this year.  Most, if not all, of their work will be done on computers.  Our campus is working really hard on being more green and going paperless.  

And I am so happy to report that their class sizes are small.  There are about 11 kids in each 5th grade class.  That means more one on one time for each kiddo! The kids are in separate classes and will split their day between three teachers. The other cool part is, they had each teacher last year as well.

And now day 1 of the first day of their 5th grade year is in the books!  They all said that it was a good day!  Emma said it was stressful, but good.  And Henry said it was just busy.  Not stressful.

1st Day of School-3rd Grade!

We sent this pretty girl and handsome fellow off to 3rd grade this morning! 3rd Grade!  Wow...  I just can't believe they are starting 3rd grade already.  We are super proud of them.  They both got up this morning on time without complaining, got dressed, made their beds, ate breakfast, got their backpacks ready, and brushed their hair and teeth. and then waited patiently until it was time to go.  I know some of what they will be doing today-mainly going over the daily routine, rules, and what is expected, but I am looking forward to hearing about their first days.  They are in separate classes again this year which is what we prefer until it isn't a possibility any more.  They have a home room teacher and then switch about mid morning and then switch again after lunch to return to their home room.  Henry is in Ms. Marla's class for home room and Emma is in Ms. Laura Ab's class for her home room.  Ms. Marla teaches Math and Science and Ms. Laura Ab focuses on Language Arts and Social Studies.  They are both amazing teachers and really wonderful people and we are blessed to have them teaching H and E this year.   Hoping that all of our friends and family have a fantastic first day back at school and praying that it will be a wonderful school year for all!

And yes, even though it is creepy quiet here, I'm enjoying it;)

Third Grade Orientation and Meet the Teacher Night!

We are looking forward to another wonderful year of learning adventures at Treetops!  We turned in supplies and met our teachers tonight.  Emma will be in Ms. Laura's class and Henry will be in Ms. Marla's class.  These two ladies are amazing teachers and are fantastic at what they do.  We know the nuggets are in very good hands and will learn a lot this year and have a great time doing it.  School starts Monday, August 25th for us and I think we are all ready for more structure in our daily routine.  It's going to be a great year!

The Rockin' Pros-Treetops Talent Show 2014! "I Love Rock n' Roll"

Emma tried out and performed in this year's school talent show.  Henry had planned to try out as well, but decided not to perform this year.  Emma and three of her friends performed as an air band to the classic(their choice), "I Love Rock n' Roll"  by Joan Jett and the Heartbreakers.  They did an AWESOME job!  And Emma, we believe, has conquered her stage fright.  She was the lead vocalist and did a really GREAT job!  We are so proud of the girls and their hard work.  They really had a great time.

18/52 Last Night of Being 2nd Graders

How in the world is it possible that we have two almost 3rd graders?  As of tomorrow morning, that is exactly what we will have!  So very proud of our nuggets and all of their growth this year.  We are blessed with a wonderful school, outstanding teachers and staff, and some super great friends!  Bye bye 2nd grade.  We sure are going to miss you.

Dallas Arboretum-Last Field Trip of 2nd Grade

Daddy and I spent Wednesday with our kiddos and some friends from school on 2nd grade's last field trip of the school year.  We spent the day at the Dallas Arboretum.  We arrived around 9:20am and left at about 1:30pm  The kids started their visit with some classroom time learning about insects and their life cycles.  Their main focus at school the last few weeks have been on the metamorphosis of a caterpillar to a butterfly. After class we had a picnic lunch and then could go off exploring until about 1:30pm when we met up to leave to return to school. We decided that the Children's Exploration Center and Garden would be a great place for the kids to explore. They had a great time and we only saw a small portion of the garden.  If you live in the DFW area, I highly recommend going.  It is absolutely beautiful!  We have a plan to do a day trip with some friends from school so we can spend more time there.  And maybe, just maybe I can arrange a kid free day at the arboretum too.  I also got to catch up with a friend from high school that volunteers there.  The weather was gorgeous, the company wonderful, and the scenery was spectacular!
