The Good-
I cannot express how thrilled I am at how imaginative our two kids are. It blows me away when they show me things they have built together or decided to play together. It is so cool to see that happening.
Independence-
Both of them have very strong minds and are continuing to want to do things on their own without Momma or Daddy's help. Helping with meals throughout the day is one thing they both enjoy helping with, feeding the growing family of animals at our house, dressing themselves, picking up toys and things.
Potty Training-
We have been pull-up free for about 2 1/2 months now including bedtime and while we are out and about. For the most part they have both done really well. They are so close to being completely potty trained and we can't wait until that happens.
Sharing/Taking Turns-
Some days are better then others:)
The Bad-
We thought we were past the hitting, pinching, biting stage of early childhood, but we are not. In recent weeks both kids have done one of the mentioned deeds. It's been hard on everybody. We've been trying to do more time outs instead of spanks and it works for Emma, but not for Henry. Frustrating for all.
Potty Training-
Why is this listed here as well as under the good? Henry has been "marking" his territory over the last two weeks. He says he has been trying to make it to the bathroom, but doesn't. So we've been mopping up peep here, there, and everywhere. And now, Emma has followed suit, but not as bad. She makes it to the bathroom and then tells you she isn't going to make it while standing in front of the toilet. Note-this doesn't happen every time with both kids, but enough to make me want to pull my hair out!
Being Ugly-
Lately it seems that it takes the kids most of the day to "become" friends. The mornings are horrible-"he's touching my toys, I don't want him to sit by me, sissy isn't sharing, no, it's my turn". And we've had a recent outbreak of "let's not listen to Momma or Daddy and see what happens". It hasn't been fun, but we ARE and WILL continue to work on it.
The Cute-
These are some of the things we've heard the kids say in recent days/weeks/months.
Henry-
"Can I have a snoobie?"- a snoobie for those of you that don't know is a smoothie:)
"Actually we are on the highway, sissy."
"I think I will call the buggy, Henry!"
"Come here Bootsie, I want to kiss you on da face."
Emma-
"Momma, can I have a smoobie too?"-again with the smoothie:)
"I will name mine, Turtle Patch!"
"Yook at me Momma, I'm beautiful!"
"It's okay Bootsie, it's just thunder and yightning. We'll be okay."
Recently all four of us were in a friend's wedding and it was rather entertaining and a little nerve racking for me and Jason. The kids did a great job-Emma the flower girl and Henry the ring bearer. Emma went off the aisle just a little when tossing the flower petals. And Henry walked up the aisle with Momma and then proceeded to yawn REALLY big and stretch his arms and make all sorts of faces. Then after the ceremony got underway, Emma starts saying that she is hungry and each time she says it, increases her volume and the amount of whine in her voice. And Henry plops down and starts pulling grass and tossing it up in the air while looking for bugs:) The guests thought it was cute and hilarious and the bride and groom didn't even notice. They have since watched the video and had a big laugh. It was a good day and they did well and had a fun time.
And what are our two little angels doing at this moment? It's 9:25pm, shouldn't they be asleep?
Why yes, they should be, but they aren't:( So, Daddy is going to go talk to them and get them re tucked and hopefully the rest of the night will be quiet.
I'll post a bunch of pictures tomorrow night, so you can see what the two little rascals have been up to:)
