Two years ago while on our Summer vacation, Daddy got a call from a friend/co-worker and was informed that the company that he worked for had been bought out by a bigger company. He went from working for a smallish company to working for a company of about 25,000 people. That all changed as of July 24th for us.
Jason returned to work to find out that he was one of a large group of people that were laid off that day. We were shocked, but I guess that we had a feeling that it was a possibility. His official termination date was 8/7, but everyone who was laid off was asked to gather their things and all computer access was removed that same day. So he came home with 5 boxes from the past 15 years of working with the same company. He was calm, at ease, and wasn't as upset as I thought he would be.
He received a job offer even before he walked out the door and had several others before 6pm that night. We've received emails, phone calls, txts, etc offering up job postings, words of encouragement, places to stay, and just an outpouring of love from our friends and family.
He started working on his resume right away and set up a few interviews within a few days of being laid off. He interviewed last Wednesday and I am very happy to say, started his new position today!
I had no doubt that he would be snatched up quickly by a great company!
Here's to new beginnings!
In the coming months, we will be moving again, but plan to stay in the area. I'll keep you posted.
