Silly-
Back story 1-Usually my kiddos know what we are doing in art class on Friday's before their classmates do. This week I have kept it kind of a secret because my nuggets will share with their friends and then it isn't a surprise on Friday and that isn't any fun, now is it?! So I've been working each day a little this week on the project. I am not finished yet with my example that I do for the kids each week, otherwise I could include a picture with this. We are making snowmen out of empty paper towel, toilet paper rolls that have been stacked and glued, painted white, and have top hats. The kids will build them the rest of the way, add buttons, nose, face, scarf, and any other decoration(s) they want.
Emma asked yesterday what all the little top hats were for. And I asked her this, "Who is white all over and wear a black top hat?"
Emma's response was, "Abraham Lincoln!"
Well, that IS one answer! Just not the right one:) They have done some studying in class about Abraham Lincoln, so it was a valid answer. Although, it was pointed out by Daddy that it might also sound a bit racist to some, but we know that that was not her intent. Their school is very diverse and even before they were in school we have tried to teach them that we are all different and that is okay.
I did end up telling her the project for this week, but I asked her to keep it to herself:)
Sweet-
Back story 2-About a week or so ago, both kiddos had a cold and have been trying to get rid of a cough. So I have sent cough drops with them to school with strict instructions to only use them when needed and that they do not share them with friends or eat them like hard candy. And they have also had one before bed. Well, now they are basically over their colds, but now I am sick with a cold or something else and have been coughing. I have never really been one for cough drops. I don't care for them. Hot tea with honey normally does the trick for me.
Last night before bed, I gave them each one last cough drop and said that that was it, no more cough drops for them because they didn't need them any more. I tucked them in(Daddy was at his weekly robot club meeting, so I was solo) and went about my evening. A little bit later, Henry comes out and says,
"Mommy, I was thinking in my bed and unwrapped my cough drop and was about to put it in my mouth, but then I thought that I should give it to you because you need it more than me."
I guess he was under the impression that we were all out of cough drops which we are not. I thanked him and told him that he could have it. He insisted that I have it, but I showed him my cup of hot tea and told him that he could keep the cough drop.
"Mommy, I just want you to feel better."
Thanks buddy:) I want to feel better too. I'm hoping that by Friday I am feeling better. Monday, I was tired, a little stuffy, and I ached all over. Tuesday was a bit of the same, but the aching was not as intense and a cough was added in its place. Today(Wednesday), I am more stuffy and the cough is getting worse. I want to say that Monday night I may have run a fever, but it broke overnight, but I am not sure. So far this week I am keeping my daily routine simple. So cleaning and Christmas decorating will have to wait until next week. I'm hoping that all of the hot tea drinking, Emergen-C taking, taking it easy, will do the trick and I will be over this crud fast. I'd rather not have to miss my library and art class duties on Friday.
