VBS(Vacation Bible School) July 22-26th/Week at Papa and Nana's

Henry, Emma, Chance(our dog), and Mommy spent the week of the 22nd-26th of July at Papa and Nana's so that the kids could attend VBS and Mommy could take a marriage/parenting class.  Daddy had to work and was not able to join us.  VBS was held in the evenings this year at the church from 5:30-8pm.  It was a jam packed week full of lots of learning, late nights for all of us, and some much needed family grandparent/aunt and uncle time.  The kids had been begging for am extended slumber party at Papa and Nana's and VBS week was the perfect opportunity for just that.  Chance(our pup) made the trip with us so that he didn't have to be crated all day when Jason was at work.  Boots(our cat) did just fine during the day and I think loved having the house to himself to roam all day and get the individual attention in the evenings once Jason was home.

My original intent was to post about each night/lesson of VBS as it was happening and post a couple of pictures from each night.  It didn't happen and by the time we had everyone tucked in for the night, I had no energy to post.  So here is the breakdown.

VBS 2012 BugZone-Transformed by our BIG God
Compared the life cycle/transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly.

Lesson 1
Numbers 13:14; Deuteronomy 31:6-8; Joshua 1:1-11;3
Lesson 2
Judges 6:1-7:23
Lesson 3
Book of Ruth
Lesson 4
Luke 19:1-10

They also did a craft every night and did team building relays.

My class covered building and maintaining a strong marriage, ways of raising children in a Godly way, and family finances.  A lot of the material covered we already knew and or do, but for those things it was a nice refresher coarse and the rest will be used now and in the future.  And I enjoyed some interaction with other adults which is always nice.

Each night after we got home, the kids got changed for bed and had a snack, and then either Aunt Suza or Papa went over the night's Bible lesson.  And then after bedtime stories, brushing teeth, bathroom runs, we got them tucked in and said bedtime prayers and then went to bed.

Our days started every day with breakfast with Aunt Suza before she left for work, waking up Uncle Philip probably way before he wanted/or needed to be up, asking Papa and Nana  thousands of questions as usual, playing with toys from the toy box, hanging out in the backyard under the big old oak tree while Chance got some outside time, running errands with Papa and/or Nana, and NAPPING!  We stopped taking naps when the kids were 3.  We also made the long(not really) walk to Mommy's old elementary school to play on the playground.  We did not stay long because it was super hot and Henry had to be back to go with Papa to meet Daddy for the Saturday robot meeting. Before we left, I showed them the window of my Kindergarten class and pointed out houses of school and other friends.  We also got our before school haircuts with Ms. Lucy and had a wonderful visit with her.  It was a jam packed, but relaxing week.  Papa, Nana, Aunt Suza, and Uncle Philip always take great care of us. We had a great time, but we are happy to be back home with Daddy and Boots.
