Swimming

I have a great video on my phone of Henry swimming underwater for the first time yesterday, but I can't get it loaded to Youtube.  And since I'd rather not share my Facebook  and Google+ info with all of you(no offense), at this time I can't share the video:(

We have been working with both kiddos since right before school was out for Summer.  And then had to take a month off due to an issue with yellow algae attacking our pool.  Due to the extreme heat and wacky TX weather, this is not unheard of for pool owners to have to deal with, but since we are first timers, it took a little longer to get the pool back to clean and safe mode.  Before that happened the kids really took to the water and were willing to try new things without their floaties.

Now that the pool is in good shape and it continues to be wicked hot outside, we have been swimming for about 2 or more hours each day.  Each afternoon, we suit up, put on our cool shades, and slather on the sunblock.  Somehow, even with reapplying and with high SPF/UVA/UVB protection, we are still getting some sun.  Our vampire children and Mommy and Daddy are now sun kissed and have tan lines.

Both kiddos love being in the water.  Henry has gone from only wanting to spend about 5 minutes in the water to having to practically drag him out for the day.  Emma likes it, but is having a hard time feeling ok without her floaty.  She has made strides with this and did some great work in the pool yesterday swimming back and forth between me and Jason.  She'll get there.  Henry is like a little fish in water.  He has shed his swim vest and tummy board and is swimming like crazy.

He has been experimenting with putting his face in the water and holding his nose with one hand for a while.  Great Aunt Linda gave each of the kiddos a pair of goggles as part of their graduation goody bag and we are now using them.  So yesterday, Henry sported his goggles while swimming yesterday and Daddy taught him how to hold his breath without holding his nose underwater.  He now does most of his swimming underwater and started diving yesterday as well!

We are very proud of both of them!!!

If I can get the whole video from phone thing figured out, then I will post the video.  In the meantime, if you are interested in seeing it and are not friends with me on Facebook or in my circles on Google+, then leave a comment with your email address and I will do my best to get it to you.  Currently, my in house computer wiz/all things technical guru, is looking into the problem.

We'll be back out in the pool this afternoon and I will do another video.  I'm hoping to get one with Emma swimming without help in this one too.
