We are nine days away from starting another school year. Summer has flown by. First grade Orientation is this coming Tuesday night. We'll meet the teachers, turn in school supplies, meet classmates, fill out paper work, learn about the 1st grade routine and what is expected.
Our school has been really good about having the supply list ready early. We decided to purchase most of the needed supplies for the school year through Amazom.com. Jason has a special membership with them and we decided that that was the way we would do things this year. We had purchased new lunch boxes earlier this Summer and I ordered/purchased new backpacks from ToysRUS. The kids chose what they wanted and it was easier than I thought it would be. I imagined a good hour or more of looking and re-looking at backpacks with each kiddo. Henry looked at three and picked within five minutes which one he wanted. And Emma didn't even do that. She looked at two and had her mind made up. And thanks to Aunt Suza, they each have new shoes and a few new outfits. I was planning on waiting since both kids are going through a growth spurt. But to be honest, I am not going to say no, if that is really what Suza wanted to do. And I already know that we will be shopping for Fall clothes soon enough.
We've been slowly working on getting back on a school schedule. And I already know that I'm going to wish we had worked harder on it. So this next week, we will most definitely be up on time so that we are prepared for school on the 27th.
I too have to get ready for school. I have volunteered to be the Kindergarten/1st Grade Librarian for this year. So I need to prepare a welcome letter, book checkout forms, and late slips. I'll be at school every Friday for this year. This adds to the many co-op hours that I earned last year with all of the time I spent at school volunteering and substitute teaching. BUT, I am looking forward to working on projects at home. There will be more painting of rooms, more de -cluttering, more working in the garage, and hopefully more working from home on a new venture. Daddy will be busy as well with work projects, DPRG meeting and events, and projects here at home.
