Have a Heart Day

We had another amazing Have a Hear Day this year.  Each year on Valentine's Day the classes at school go out into the community and volunteer.  The kids rack leaves for the elderly, paint houses, help out at shelters, work at the food bank, etc.  This year the K classes made several stops to thank and help some of the people of our community.  First, we stopped and toured the new fire department and as a small thank you to our amazing firefighters, we delivered homemade cookies and cards. Second, we stopped at our local library for story time and a tour and as a thank you to our librarians, delivered gift bags for the youth department librarians.  Third stop, we stopped at McDonald's for lunch and to donate to the Ronald McDonald House.  Forth, we stopped by one of our local parks and picked up litter, played, and watched the ducks.  And lastly, we stopped at our local animal shelter and had a quick tour and then donated three laundry baskets full of dog/cat food, treats, and toys.  And we also made a monetary donation there too.  It was a busy day, but the kids loved it and have a better understanding of how volunteering and helping in our community works.
