Summer Roadtrip Day 7-Eureka,CA

Today was our first and only full day in Eureka, CA.  This morning we did a drive through the Ave of the Giants-Redwood Forest.  We passed through some of this yesterday on our way into Eureka. We did some hiking through the forest and had a leisurely morning. We also packed a picnic lunch and had lunch by the river.  The kids did some wading in the water and ended up pretty soaked.  All four of us searched for river rocks and now have a rather nice collection.  We came back to the hotel to get the kiddos out of their wet clothes and changed them into their swimsuits.  Henry and Emma had their first visit to the ocean today and it was GREAT!!!  They had so much fun and didn't want to leave when we said that it was time to go.  They chased waves, rolled down the sand dunes, got buried in the sand, and made friends with a brother and sister that were at the beach.  We all caught a few rays, but nothing too bad.  We definitely have two water babies:)  We are now back in our room and getting ready for bed.  We head out tomorrow morning early for Seal Cove, OR.  We'll have our first family camping trip.  The kids are excited, which is good.  Jason and I are looking forward to the view(s) and a night under the stars.  Saturday, we drive to Tacoma, WA where we will spend a week with Grandpa, Granny, Aunt Lisa, Uncle Brian, cousin Charles, Aunt Rachel, Uncle James, and finally get to meet our new cousin/nephew, Christopher!  I will update with photos then.  I haven't had enough down time to get it all done.  We are having a really good trip, but by the end of each day, Mommy has been ready for bed:)  Will update in a couple of days.  FYI-I have posted pics along the way on my Facebook page.
