Learning to be Patient

Learning to be patient is proving to be rather difficult for Emma and Henry. We've been trying to teach them that a LOT of things take time to either do, make, or get. The concept is really hard for 5 yr old growing minds to wrap around. Here's a snipit from a conversation that we had just the other day.

Mommy-"Henry and Emma, you need to be patient. We'll go outside in a few minutes."

Henry and Emma-"Mommy, we want to go out NOW!!!"

During these few seconds, I am walking to their room to get socks and shoes and to pick up this and that along the way. Two little anxious bodies are following me every step of the way growing more and more impatient.

Henry-"Mooommmmmmy, we want to go out now."

Mommy-"Henry, please be patient. We have to get your socks and shoes on first."

Henry-"I don't want to wait. I can't learn to be patient!"

Something tells me that this "battle" will be requiring an added extra dose of patience for me and daddy. Somehow I think we can learn to be patient.
