Fuzzy Caterpillar

video

We found this little fuzzy guy hanging on for dear life on the front porch the other morning. Henry had to have him. He's really into bugs/ insects of all shapes and sizes. Luckily, Emma isn't too grossed out by them either. So we've had our fair share of creepy crawlies around the house over the last few weeks. This is not the best quality, but you can hear the two bug experts and Momma talking about our fuzzy friend.

This and That Pics

Proof that they really DO love each other. It was a hugapolooza!
"What do you think, Bubby, more glue or do you think the lake of glue will hold it together?!"
Even in Pink Panther shades, he's so darn handsome. Just look at that smile. Love it:)
Henry showing off his insect sticker "tattoos".
She just might be a super model one day.
Emma got caught trying to steal a car off the carousel at the mall. Check out her facial expression.
Suuuuper Henry!!! Here's a shot of our neighborhood super hero in mid air. He loves to jump from extremely high places.

A Little of This and A Little of That...

Hmmm...I've got bits and pieces of everything Henry and Emma to report. This is going to be a combination of the good, the bad, and the ugly, and the cute.

The Good-
I cannot express how thrilled I am at how imaginative our two kids are. It blows me away when they show me things they have built together or decided to play together. It is so cool to see that happening.

Independence-
Both of them have very strong minds and are continuing to want to do things on their own without Momma or Daddy's help. Helping with meals throughout the day is one thing they both enjoy helping with, feeding the growing family of animals at our house, dressing themselves, picking up toys and things.

Potty Training-
We have been pull-up free for about 2 1/2 months now including bedtime and while we are out and about. For the most part they have both done really well. They are so close to being completely potty trained and we can't wait until that happens.

Sharing/Taking Turns-
Some days are better then others:)

The Bad-
We thought we were past the hitting, pinching, biting stage of early childhood, but we are not. In recent weeks both kids have done one of the mentioned deeds. It's been hard on everybody. We've been trying to do more time outs instead of spanks and it works for Emma, but not for Henry. Frustrating for all.

Potty Training-
Why is this listed here as well as under the good? Henry has been "marking" his territory over the last two weeks. He says he has been trying to make it to the bathroom, but doesn't. So we've been mopping up peep here, there, and everywhere. And now, Emma has followed suit, but not as bad. She makes it to the bathroom and then tells you she isn't going to make it while standing in front of the toilet. Note-this doesn't happen every time with both kids, but enough to make me want to pull my hair out!

Being Ugly-
Lately it seems that it takes the kids most of the day to "become" friends. The mornings are horrible-"he's touching my toys, I don't want him to sit by me, sissy isn't sharing, no, it's my turn". And we've had a recent outbreak of "let's not listen to Momma or Daddy and see what happens". It hasn't been fun, but we ARE and WILL continue to work on it.

The Cute-
These are some of the things we've heard the kids say in recent days/weeks/months.

Henry-
"Can I have a snoobie?"- a snoobie for those of you that don't know is a smoothie:)
"Actually we are on the highway, sissy."
"I think I will call the buggy, Henry!"
"Come here Bootsie, I want to kiss you on da face."

Emma-
"Momma, can I have a smoobie too?"-again with the smoothie:)
"I will name mine, Turtle Patch!"
"Yook at me Momma, I'm beautiful!"
"It's okay Bootsie, it's just thunder and yightning. We'll be okay."

Recently all four of us were in a friend's wedding and it was rather entertaining and a little nerve racking for me and Jason. The kids did a great job-Emma the flower girl and Henry the ring bearer. Emma went off the aisle just a little when tossing the flower petals. And Henry walked up the aisle with Momma and then proceeded to yawn REALLY big and stretch his arms and make all sorts of faces. Then after the ceremony got underway, Emma starts saying that she is hungry and each time she says it, increases her volume and the amount of whine in her voice. And Henry plops down and starts pulling grass and tossing it up in the air while looking for bugs:) The guests thought it was cute and hilarious and the bride and groom didn't even notice. They have since watched the video and had a big laugh. It was a good day and they did well and had a fun time.

And what are our two little angels doing at this moment? It's 9:25pm, shouldn't they be asleep?
Why yes, they should be, but they aren't:( So, Daddy is going to go talk to them and get them re tucked and hopefully the rest of the night will be quiet.

I'll post a bunch of pictures tomorrow night, so you can see what the two little rascals have been up to:)

Brief Update for August/September

Emma drew another man with a hat. This seems to be a reoccurring subject for her to draw.
Henry wearing his cowboy hat. He is a true Texas boy:)
Hunting for grasshoppers(aka walking sticks according to Henry) in the front yard.
Emma making a mud cake. She took a small break from grasshopper hunting.
Henry looking for grasshoppers/walking sticks.
Our friendly house gecko. We released him in the backyard later that day.
This is a drawing Henry did of a spider. He's really into bugs right now.
Henry at the DFW Observation Deck watching the big planes take off and land.
Emma snuggled up the other day and passed out on the couch for a little nap.
We had lunch with Aunt Suza and Uncle Kevin at La Hacienda Ranch and rode the horse and train again. Wow, doesn't he look so excited?!
Emma driving the train. That's a peppermint in her mouth not chewing tobacco:)
Caught Emma bright and early Saturday morning playing with her new Moon Sand.
Henry joined Emma Saturday morning, playing in the very early hours of the morning. Here he is with some Flarp, which at this point is the same consistency as Play Dooh.

Emma played dress up yesterday. This is her latest design-the hottest couture for this season. A clown hat, Hello Kitty shirt, pirate pants, and some sparklie pink dress up sandals.
She walked over to me and said, "Yook at me Mommy! Can I wear this for Halloween?" And then gave me this pretty smile.

I'll be posting a more detailed update soon. I've just not been in the writing mood. My apologies-it's not a good excuse.
