Well, well, well...what have Henry and Emma been up to? Where do I start?
Potty Training
-Henry made another successful trip to the potty the other day. Emma is becoming more and more interesting in trying the potty chair without being asked or told it's time to try. Henry puts up a fight, but once on the seat and distracted does alright.
Bottles
-What, what are those? Our big boy and big girl don't do bottles anymore! We quite cold turkey at the beginning of the week and things have just kept moving along smoothly. They have been having milk with dinner which has also ended up being a little later in the evening.
Naps
-I've almost given up on the idea of nap time. They don't sleep during the day unless I'm keeping an eagle eye on them(in the same room). Otherwise, hey end up running around their room making a mess. They can move he mattresses off their toddler beds and move the frames. So the beds get torn apart and have to be remade. The blinds we replaced will eventually have to be replaced again and pretty much any form of decoration that was once in the room has been taken out so it won't be destroyed.
Baby Clothes
-The last of the "baby clothes"(12 months-24 months) will soon be leaving our house as well as some toys. Both of them still have a few onesies that still fit, but I have decided to give them away since in my opinion that makes potty training a bit more difficult because of the snaps. And big kids don't wear snaps:)
Picking Up Toys
-Emma is pretty good about picking up toys when we ask her to. Henry chooses when he will willingly follow that instruction. Sometimes we make it a game and then he really gets into it.
Playing & Sharing
-For the most part Henry and Emma play well together. Bu recently we have had some problems with them taking toys away from each other. Which includes one kid hitting the other. Not fun-I just hope this doesn't turn into biting.
-Henry has also been really clingy kind of. He's wanted Mommy to play trains, build towers, read books, sit with him while he eats his snack, etc. Luckily, Emma is a happy independent girl and doesn't mind playing on her own. But just to make sure I have pulled her aside several times over the last week and loved on her a lot(more than usual) and made sure she was okay.
Scared of the Dark
-We think Henry may be scared of the dark. We've always had a nightlight in the kids' room, but for about the past month he has insisted on the main light being on when we go in for bedtime. We read a few stories before bed in the living room, go thru the kitchen into the family room, and then down the hall to their room. On the way at least one light has to be on or he has a fit. I think it will pass. Emma seems fine either way.
I do have pics to post and will do so early next week because I'll be taking more this weekend. And there will be a lot more coming. The next month is already booked with social events.
Our new life with twins born 3-3-05 named Henry and Emma. Our trip through life and love with two new children. Some of it has already been a battle some has already been fun.

More Potty Success!
Well this morning we had another successful trip to the potty chair by Emma. She sat down on one chair and Henry was on the other. I was sitting on the floor in front of them talking to them and suddenly Emma says, "Hey Mom, I tee teed." Then she stood up and took a look. And sure enough-there it was, tee tee in the potty. Yippeee!! So it may be taking a while, but it's happening. We'll keep you posted. I'm just so proud of them!!!

Potty Training
So this officially happened yesterday morning, but I didn't want to take away from our well wishes to Uncle Kevin and cousin Catie on their birthday. So I think I've mentioned that potty training resumed after the holidays. Well we're back at it-wearing pull ups only at nap time and at bedtime for overnight. Otherwise I've got them wearing big boy underwear and big girl panties during the day. They are getting better at telling us when they first feel wet, but we still hadn't made a successful trip to the potty chair, well, that is until yesterday! Henry called me over and said "Mommy I got tee tee." I checked and he was barely wet so I got him to sit down on the potty chair and he "put the tee tee in the potty." Yippeee!!! Emma tried next, but no tee tee for her. We kept trying, but neither one wanted to sit down on the potty chairs. We don't want to push them. Neither one likes to wear diapers now, they prefer underwear and if they can't do underwear pull ups work. So I'm hoping that once it clicks in their heads the rest will come quickly to both.
Other update-had my eye exam today and things look good. The doctor is having me try Acuvue Hydraclear lenses this time and so far, except for getting use to the new prescription, they feel pretty comfortable. I'm also getting new glasses and they should be ready when I go back in for my followup next weekend.
Another update-we also took, Boots(our 1 yr old cat) in for his yearly vaccinations yesterday. So he's good for another year. He's very healthy and the vet tech and vet both LOVED him. And while Mommy was in with the cat; the kids stayed in the front waiting area with Daddy and behaved very well. The office estaff said the kids were great the whole time. We're so proud. They are such good kids:)

So......
Ok, so I know it's been quite some time since I posted about what the kids have been up to. So here's what Mr.Henry and Miss Emma have been doing the last month. We've been sticking to the alone timeout form of discipline and also spanking when and if necessary and it seems to be getting easier. They both are trying their hand(s) at talking back and being ugly to each other and to Mama and Daddy. And whinning has taken on a new more whiny tone:) Bu through it all we're managing not to go more crazy than we already are. We started potty training again and are sticking to it this time for a few reasons-they are at the right age and changing diapers is just really getting old, we're looking into preschools/daycare and a lot of them require that the kids be potty trained, and because they have both asked to wear big boy and big girl underwear. So we started training for the second time. So far no successful trips in the potty--just more laundry. They both got haircuts a few weeks ago. Henry had his fourth and Emma had her first official haircut(we were only getting her bangs trimmed before). Lucy-our hair guru:)-cut off two inches, but no more tangles and that makes our little girl happy. She also got to wear a funny hat like Mama. I also got a haircut and had my hair colored-nothing drastic-just needed a little change. They've been playing in leaves, trying to climb trees, coloring, putting puzzles together, reading, playing music, playing dressup, eating chapstick-heheheh, learning how to take pictures with my camera, learning the abcs, numbers, and colors. They've been busy. It's been hard to get things done lately since one of the other new things is that they aren't napping anymore either. It's turned into quiet time in their room for 45-1hr every day. Usually so I can get a few things done without the help of four extra little hands. Soon all the little projects I needed to do will be done and then I'll/we'll start on the bigger ones. We hope to have the bathroom remodel done and the kitchen painted before Summer. And then slowly but surely the rest of the house will follow. The other project(not really) that I need to get moving on is planning the kids' birthday party. I think we're going to do a themed party this year, but we'll have to wait and see. And for family and friends that may be curious-I'll be going in to see an orthopedic doc with in the next month about my shoulder and we'll see what needs to be done from there. And depending on the diagnosis-Jason may have to take over posting for a bit. We'll take the kids in for their 3 yr checkup in early March. We've been lucky-we have healthy kids. And we'll be figuring out when we'll be heading up to Washington state to see Granny,Grandpa,Aunt Rachel, Uncle James, Mammaw, Uncle Kasey, Aunt Tanya, Isabel, Hope, and little Dot-whew! Anyway, that's what's been up. We hope everyone is well. Hugs and kisses. Talk to you soon.
