Afternoon Snack

Yesterday we when outside for a little bit and had a snack on the front steps. Still warm enough to run around bare foot. And if you can see a smug here or there on both kids it's because they wiggled past me and started playing in the dirt. dirt has minerals in it that are good for you, doesn't it?! You're bound to see a lot of posts over the next few days/weeks due to all the upcoming activities coming up. It all starts tomorrow with the State Fair of Texas:)

Things to Do....

Emma showing off her letters that she did all by herself.

Henry working on his letters. He did the "q" and the "s" all by himself.

Some of you may wonder what we we've been doing over the last few weeks. Well, the answer is a little bit of everything. I've gotten into a get-projects-done mode lately and the kids have been helping out(more like supervising). So while Mommy has been busy getting this and that done, Henry and Emma have been "helping" or playing in the same room. We've hung new curtain rods in Mommy and Daddy's bedroom, moved furniture in the family room, hung pictures around the house, fixed some toys and other items around the house, helped cook meals, learned to drive a race car, helped cut down some trees, and doe some other yard work with Mommy and Daddy. Almost all of the little projects are done and it feels good to have them out of the way.

We were outside for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon working in the front yard. The bushes by our front porch needed a trim badly. So while I did that, the kids brought out some of their tractors and trucks and a few other toys and dug in the dirt and got nice and dirty:) And then we went out again this morning with the intention of getting half the backyard mowed for Daddy, but Mommy couldn't get the mower going. So instead, I worked on breaking down the small tree that Jason had already cut down into smaller lengths for bundles. I was going to work on the larger limbs needing to be cut down as well, but poor Henry was being eaten alive by mosquitoes. So we came in and had a nice shower and got everyone cleaned up. I anted to get more done before tomorrow when supposedly we are to get more rain. And because our social schedule is about to get really busy.

We have some major events coming up very soon. This weekend(Saturday), we will be going to the State Fair of Texas for the first time. And then on Monday, Granny Henriksen flies in for a visit to Aunt Lisa and Uncle Brian's and us. And then a few days after that or maybe before, our new baby cousin will be born!!! And in between those events, we'll go to Uncle Kevin and Aunt Julie's wedding reception. And then soon after that we'll go up to meet our new baby cousin and visit with Aunt Lisa and Uncle Brian and Granny.

The many things we do...

Henry and Emma said that they would cook dinner the other night so this is what we had.

Painting dinosaurs and waterfalls in their room. We're quickly running out of lower wall space.

Two little monkeys jumpin' on the couch:)

Emma all bundled up playing trains with Henry and Mommy. I asked her if the blanket had swallowed her and this was her answer, "No Mommy, here I am...seeeeeee!"

One of the three things our big boy loves...Trains.

Emma built a tower with a "garden" on top. Note the flower on the very top of the tower.

"Look Momma, I built a tower."
The beaded necklaces drapped over the tower are a waterfall.

Disco dancing with Uncle Philip--sooo funny and sooo cute!

Playing dress up or just making a BIG mess? Making a BIG mess and having a blast doing it!

Kids Say the Funniest Things....

So we've been hearing some interesting things at our house lately. The kids have become pretty chatty and usually have no problem sharing their feelings or what they want. Here are just a few things that have come out of the mouths of our babes....

Emma-"Daddy, don't talk like that!"-no Daddy didn't say anything bad, but Emma was under the impression that he was being ugly. He was just talking to her brother about being good.

Henry-"I don't want to do anything!"-he's woken up the past few days and been a little on the grumpy side. So when we've asked what he wanted to do that has been his answer accompanied with a great big scowl.

Emma and Henry-"want to go to the animal store."-we went out the other weekend and Daddy wouldn't tell us where we were going. He even took a different route to get there, but the kids figured it out somehow. We've taken the kids to the RainForest Cafe at Grapevine Mills Mall a few times and they LOVE it!!! This time we sat in the booth right below the gorillas! And when the rainstorm came Henry said, "don't be scared rillas, it's ok." And besides lunch we walked out with a bag full of goodies-books and toys.

Emma-"Can God give me a different brother?"-she said this yesterday and I almost fell over laughing. She and Henry had been going back in forth with either playing nicely together or fighting. This happened after one of the fights. She insisted on a new brother or sister. Guess what Mommy said to that one? NO!!! No more babies:) Later out of the blue she was all lovie dovie with Henry and hugged him and told him she loved him.

Henry and Emma-"Yeeeeeesssssss......you waaaannnt to."-I hear this a lot through out the day, every day. It's one of the many things we are working on. You(H&E) can't always depend on Mom to do things for you even when you say "please." And to tell the truth, I don't always want to!
