May-A Bunch of Pictures

May...Busy,Busy,Busy Little Bees:)

Since we returned home from vacation we've all been busy, busy, busy. Daddy's gone on a business trip, Mama and the kids went to "camp", everyone has been sick, we lost our family pet, and we've learned a whole bunch of new things. Time seems to have flown by the last couple of weeks. When we got back from Washington we had to have our cat, Smokie, put to sleep. That was hard on all of us, but we are doing better now. A few days after we got back we all got sick with a head cold and have since recovered. It has just been crazy.
The kids are growing like weeds. They are both taller, heavier, have lots more hair, and lots more teeth. Well...they are still working on the teeth-everything around the house gets chewed on including Mama's knee(ouch!). We're learning what our frustrations are-with toys, each other, cabinet doors, drawers, the backdoor, the nursery door, the bathroom door, trying new foods, trying to start sippy cups(they are doing really well with this). They are experimentng with temper tantrums and we are trying "timeouts". Both of them are walking really well now. They will take a tumble and get right back up and continue on playing. Henry has even tried running-don't think he realizes that's what he's doing when he does it, but it sure does get him where he wants to be faster! Emma moves pretty quickly now also. She's not as steady as Henry is, but she's very close. We started venturing out into the backyard in the evenings once Daddy gets home. They love being outside. Poor things have been eaten alive by mosquitos, but they love being outside. And we've tried to start reading at least one or two books between dinnertime and bedtime. We are trying a new nap routine-down to one a day right after lunch and have pushed bedime back by about 30 minutes. I think that both of them are still in the adjustment faze(sp?). Okay--Mama is too:) They are both talking so much more, but at the moment I've gone blank on new words they are saying. We've mastered the babysigns for "eat" and "more" and are working on "drink" and "please" and "thank you".
Mama has been off duty for this week-I picked up a stomach bug and Daddy had to work so we called in reinforcements-Nana and Papa, and Aunt Suza to the rescue!!! So Henry and Emma have been at their house this week and Mama has been getting over the bug. I am better now-thank goodness and have missed having the kids here. I don't think that Jason and I had any idea how much your immune system changes when you have kids. We're not big on being sick. Hopefully the yucky sick bugs will stay away for a long time. We'll go over to pick them up tomorrow.
I think that's all the news for now. Sorry for the delay on posting since we've been home. I do have some pictures to share and will get back on track with the posts. Take care and we'll talk more soon.

Washington Outings

Thought I'd tell you some of the things we did on our trip to Washington state. Our most important thing was visiting with family. Jason's parents, grandmother, two sets of aunts and uncles, and his youngest sister and her husband all live in Washington. We stayed with Jason's parents for half the trip and at his grandmother's part of the other half. It was just like being home. Granny Henriksen had us set up with everything we needed-cribs,highchairs,toys,books,food,treats,and LOTS and LOTS of love. We spent some time at the house which was good because we try to keep the kids on a routine whenever and wherever we go. And then other days we did outings. While we were in Tacoma we visited the zoo. We had great weather most of the time we were there-clear skies, warm days, not much rain. And the day we went to the zoo it was beautiful outside and the kids and the "big" kids had a great time. They enjoyed people watching, but did get a chance to see some of the animals too. They both really enjoyed the aquarium. And had one of their first all table food lunchs including pudding for dessert(yummy)! We also went to a park that is close to Granny and Grandpa's and had a good time strolling around the lake. Daddy did some craaazzzy stroller driving and Henry and Emma got a kick out of that. And then while we were in Spokane we went to the carousel at the Riverfront Park and then did some running through the rest of the park. We ran because it decided to pour down rain and drop temperature by about 20 degrees while we were there. I think the kids thought the running part was a game or something. For the most part we just spent time with the family. My family lives here in Texas and also live close by so we see them on a regular basis. So it is always nice when we can go for a visit to see the rest of our family. The kids got to meet aunts and uncles that they had not meet before. Aunt Rachel and Uncle James-YOU ROCK!!! Mommy and Daddy had a great time out with Rachel and James one night and when we were back at the house they played and helped feed the kids. It was a great help and a lot of fun. Granny and Grandpa we can't thank you enough for everything. Granny thank you so much for the evening and then the afternoon later in the visit off. Jason and I had a great time spending some alone time together and we couldn't have done it without you. Mammaw also thank you for opening your home to all of us, for the delicious food, and the games of pattycake and peak-a-boo. Kasey and Tanya thank you so much for the encouraging words about life and the things that we have to deal with everyday. And Isabel and Hope thank you for playing and loving on Henry and Emma-they had a wonderful time with the two of you. Dale and Barbara it was great finally meeting you both. I'm so glad we had a chance to visit(short, but sweet). We hope to spend so much more time with all of you as soon as we can. I think the best times we had were at our "home away from homes". Spending time with all of you was just what we needed and we are so thankful for all of your help with the kids and all the love you give us. We had a great time and are looking forward to doing it again as soon as we can.
