18 Month Checkup

Jason and I took the kids to their 18 month checkup on Wednesday so I thought I'd share the latest about their deveolpment. Henry is now 21 pounds/31 inches long. Emma is now 20 pounds/30 inches long. They both got shots-one for chickenpox and hepatitis- in their arm. Henry didn't even flinch, but Emma didn't like it at all and cried big crocodile tears. Hopefully they will both stay healthy which will mean we don't have to go back until their 2yr appointment in March. Dr.Kowalska says that they are both doing very well. They are right where they should be in all areas. She was impressed with the fact that their vocabulary is between 45 to 75 words and that Henry is now speaking in short sentences. Emma is not too far behind in that area. We still have a really hard time trying to figure out what he is saying, but it's getting easier. They talk to each other all the time and it's really interesting to watch them and listen. They are both able to climb up on almost anything if we let them. Henry and Emma have both now experienced several falls from the couch and from the chairs in our main living room. No major injuries thank goodness. It is a constant battle to get them to stay seated on their bottoms so we decided that the only way for them to learn was to fall a few times and find out the hard way. No Dada and Mama aren't trying to ruin your fun! We just want you to be safe. I think they are finally starting to grasp the idea that a spanking will follow if they don't behave and listen to Mama. Dada, or any other adult that askes them not to do something. They are doing really well with playing with each other and sharing toys is getting a little easier too. We are still working on the jealousy issue. Sharing Mama and Daddy with other people is one thing they don't like much. They even get upset when Jason and I hug! When this happens-we usually end up doing a group hug to make everyone happy! Otherwise, we are all happy and healthy-well for the most part. This evening before bedtime I was playing with the kids and got headbutted in the face by Henry. His hard little forhead hit my mouth and as a result Mama now has a fatlip!-no I'm not sharing pictures of that with you-but I do have a few of the kiddos that I've taken over the past couple of weeks and some within the last couple of days.
