Happy Little People

1st Week of Self-Soothing/Babbling

Well we've made it through the first week of letting the kids sooth themselves to sleep. It hasn't been easy, but instead of it taking hours to get them to sleep; it now only takes about 30 minutes. They seem to be adjusting to it. Nap time for now is the hardest, but they do alright at bedtime. As for Mommy and Daddy-we are also adjusting. Daddy has an easier time with it. I tend to go in and check on them several times, but I try to wait until all is quiet. They cry for a bit and call for me, but then they settle down. So I'm getting a few more things done and enjoying some time for myself-although I don't have any clue as to what to do with it yet. I've made a list of things that need to be done and I'm slowly starting to get them done. Henry has been babbling for a while now-"Mamma, Baba, etc and keeps adding more little sounds to his quickly growing vocabulary. Emma has just recently starting saying "Mamma" which sounds really sweet when she does it. And for a while there she would growl at us-it was the funniest thing! They both love to laugh. We are trying to get them to say "Dada", but so far haven't heard anything even close to it. In the morning we like to listen to them talk to each other. It's so sweet. Well that's about it for now. Talk to everyone soon.

6 Month Doctor's Appointment, etc

We had our six month checkup and shots on Sept.6th. Henry and Emma are doing just wonderful. Henry now weighs 15 pounds 10 ounces, measures 26 1/2 inches long, and his head measurement is 45 centimeters(big head to hold all those big brains in)! Emma now weighs 13 pounds 10 punces, measures 25 inches long, and her head measurement is 42 centimeters(another big head to hold all those big brains in)! The appountment went well until the shots were delivered and neither one of them liked that very much. Both had big crocodile tears running down their cheeks, but they pulled through with flying colors. both are developing just as they should for their age group. Both are somewhat ahead. Henry and Emma are both standing now with assistance(love to stand) and are both well on their way to crawling. Henry is able to roll across the floor and anything that is in his way(toys, the cat, etc). Emma is starting to get the hang of rolling over and is now enjoying tummy time more. She still needs the occasional "you can do it Emmy", but she is quickly learning how to move around. Both of them are now saying Mamma and babbling sweet little things and blowing rasberries is another one of their favorite things to do. as a matter of fact that is exactly whay Mr. Henry is fdoing right now as mom is typing. We have started on some new adventures-eating baby food(stage 2 now), learning to hold our own bottles, and self soothing to go down for naps and for bedtime. The babyfood has been a fairly easy adjustment. They like just about everything we've offered them. And both are very good eaters. Bottle holding is slowly coming along-we try to encourage them when their little fingers wrap around their bottles when they are eating. But so far it hasn't stuck. As for the self soothing for sleep time-well...we're all learning! We just started that one, but I think in the long run all of us will benefit from it greatly!Mommy and Daddy are certainly looking forward to it. We are also about to move from the kitchen sink for bathtime to the big tube in a few weeks. The kids are getting too big for the sink, so we'll be starting to use the toddler tube in the big tube and see how they adjust to that. Otherwise all is well with our life with twins.
