More Pictures-Crawling,Racing Each Other,Visiting with Great Granny Martin

And they're off...racing each other! Emma and Henry have made it to the wonderful crawling stage of their development and are moving right along. They are both moving forward now and racing each other to get to various places or people. Henry was a bit more hesitant about the whole crawling and sitting up on his own at first, but now even more than before we can't get him to stop moving. He's always wiggling his toes or something-always moving. And he claps for himself when he sits up on his own-got that from mom and dad. We encouraged him to sit up by clapping for him and did the same to get him to crawl forward instead of backwards. Emma is covering all the territory she can get her hands and knees on. As long as it is a level floor she'll go from one room to the next. They have been scrambling for toys-racing each other to their favorites and them playing tug-of-war until someone gives up for whatever toy or stuffed animal is their favorite at the time. We've begun the process of teaching them to share and play gentley with each other and others. Both have discovered that they can touch each other-pull hair, ears, cheeks, clothes, etc. as well as mom and dad's. We have two very strong little people!
They have started eating homemade babyfood now. Granny Henriksen and Nana Martin helped out Mama on that one. I asked for lots of advice and am really glad we decided to go this route. The kids seem to like the idea and are eating well. We had our first official "go" on big people food on Thanksgiving. Henry and Emma both enjoyed ham, turkey, sweet potatoes, dressing/stuffing, butternut squash, and I'm sure some pie got snuck in somehow. Since then we've been cooking extra veggies and meat and just blending them up and adding a little spice to it and they gobble it down! In the pictures that I just posted you'll see our visit to the nursing home to visit with my grandmother- Granny Martin(the kids great grandmmother) and my aunt-Linda Dillingham who was visiting at the same time. We had a short visit-they were about to serve dinner there and the kids were pretty tired. We try to go over and visit as often as we can. Her nursing home is about 5 minutes away from our place. She loves seeing the kids and I think they like seeing her too.
Well that's about all for now. We've got our second and third appointment with Tracey our caseworker from the county on the 1st and the 5th. We are still in the process of evaluating the kids to see if they will need speech therapy and the next few visits are just another step in the process of determining that. And then the kids have their 9 month doctor's appointment on the 6th. Thankfully there will be no shots this visit! It's just a visit for "pleasure" as their pediatrician put it. We'll keep you posted. Take care.
